from the French. Marriages in Iowa are
between 2 people who are (1) 18
years of age and older; (2) not already or still
legally married to someone else or each other;
(3) not closely related by
blood or first cousins; and (4) legally
competent to enter into a civil contract.
To apply for a marriage license the couple
intending to marry and one witness (someone
that’s acquainted with the
couple and is 18 or older) must come into the
office and fill out the application. The
applicants and witness must have
a photo I.D. The fee is $35.00 and the license
is issued the same day (applications taken after
4pm will be available the
following business day). Once the license has
been issued, it will be valid after 3 business
days and does not expire.

Des Moines
is the capital and the most populous city in the
U.S. state of Iowa. It is also the county seat
of Polk County.
A small portion
of the city extends into Warren County. It was
incorporated on September 22, 1851, as Fort Des
Moines

electoral event in nominating the President of
the United States

campaign headquarters in Des Moines. A 2007
article in The
New York Times
stated "if you have any desire to witness
presidential candidates in the most close-up and

settings, there
is arguably no better place to go than Des
